so, about that list.

the blogs i'm crushing on at this particular moment are awesome, so i thought i'd do you one and share them with you. xo, courtney

***(click the photos to link to their blog)***

for the saver: meet the savalots.

these two are totally amazing and always have great ideas on how to save that money; you can't go wrong saving in this type of economy!

for the fashionista: meet keiko lynn.

seriously, if i had any sort of fashion sense, i'd be thrilled. i am a daily reader of keiko's blog and i honestly think she's a real life version of lindsay price's character in the lipstick jungle (by the way, whomever is responsible for canceling that show sucks!) she's amazingly talented with her makeup and can make any outfit look smashing, that's right, SMASHING!

for the seamstress: meet kelly.

i actually just stumbled upon kelly's awesome blog through kathleen at grosgrain who you also MUST know if you are  into sewing. seriously, this red top is so darn cute i wish i was fashionista enough to wear it myself. i think i'll just have to make one for someone's kid to wear though. anywho, kelly has an awesome story to go with her blog, so head on over and "meet" her for yourself.

for the builder: meet ana.

ana makes the most amazing things out of wood. seriously, i'd like to hire her, or anyone else who could make me some killer furniture for my new house. (can you build things? ring me up. yes, i'm serious!)

for the lover of pretties: meet april.

april makes some seriously adorable stuff which she sells here. i'd love to learn how she makes all the super cute flower pins for your hair. go check them out. you'll love them.

for the foodie: meet rachel.

so, first of all i have to say, if you don't want to gain any weight, then DO NOT go to this blog. phew. crisis averted.

all you skinnies gone?! good. here goes. rachel has THE most delicious looking caramel brownies on her blog right now. they look so good i had to close my mouth so as not to drool on my keyboard. seriously.drool.worthy. i think i'm going to have to make some. soon. really, though, her blog has awesome recipes that i'm sure you'll put in your recipe stash. head over and check them out!

my featured friend blog: meet maria.

maria ia actually a friend of my mother's... my brother and sister went to high school with her kids. she makes amazing sketches out of names. seriously, they are amazing. i have one that is a cherished possession that my parents commissioned for my basic training graduation and i love love love it. her sketches are an awesome way to celebrate the special events in your life. go check out her blog for examples and then don't forget to shop here!

my wishing list

So, I thought I'd share with you my ultimate wishlist for Christmas. I am not a big Christmas person when it comes to getting gifts- I have a lot more fun on the giving end of this holiday season! It's the best feeling in the world to feel the happiness of someone you have gifted when their face lights up or their words are laden with "thank you's" and high-pitched-tones of giggling and smiles. If you've never been in that situation before, I suggest you pick your most favoritest person in the world and get them a gift- then let the magic happen. You'll love the outcome; I guarantee it! Anywho, these are some of the things that I am gaga(not like lady gaga, just regular gaga) over this year- you might (chances are) like some of them too! Happy Shopping, Happy December and Happy Gifting!!!!!

My List of Lovelies:

These tees are for a great cause~ and they are just amazing; this one in particular was designed by an 11-year-old little girl! AMAZING! Check out Andira Rain Tees

I would love love love a membership at this Gym. It would be great because there is one by my parents new house AND in the towns we are looking at moving to! What a perfect way to ring in the New Year, by staying healthy and keeping up my buff-body plan! :)

So, my bloggy "friend" Jennie over at My Sweet Greens brought to my attention an amazing little site called Vickery. The pants I have pictured below are called Adventure Pants and I think they are quite possibly the most adorable capris I have ever laid these eyes on. I fell instantly in love with them! Everything on their site is wonderful, so I warn you, if you easily fall in love with cute things, you may not want to check them out~ wink wink! I would advise to get there, STAT!

Who doesn't want a Nook!? They are already sold out until after Christmas, but you can get a gift certificate for them now, and then they'll ship right around 4 January! It's like an elongated Christmas gift- and while you're waiting for it to arrive you can be downloading books in preparation! Doesn't that sound fabulous? 15,000 books in a little white reader- and to make it even better, check out all of the delite-ful cases for them HERE!

I really don't even have to talk about the most amazingly beautiful mixer on the planet. But just because I'm sharing with you, I will. It makes me do that girly squealy thing that usually only happens when you are telling all of your mutually-13-year-old-girlfriends about the crush you have on so-and-so who is in high school! Remember those days?! It's red and has a large enough motor to EASILY make bread dough~ and of course an array of cupcakes and cookies! Not to mention the myriad of attachments you can get so you can grind meat, or make pasta! Who wouldn't want one?

I have recently found that Moda Fabrics make these fun things called Jelly Rolls. They are pre-cut fabrics that you can use for whatever quilting creation you can dream up! I love love love them because they cut down on the amount of time it takes to make a quilt top. The possibilities are endless- speaking of, I need to get my butt back into the sewing room!

I hope you all enjoyed my list! What's on your list??!?!

10.26.2009

so, today,

as i sit waiting on a crumpled-looking faded red sofa~ i ponder.

~the sopping tea bag hanging in my now-empty brown mug with the pretty scalloped edge.

~the way japanese people have a hatred of heat in the winter & how they don't turn it on

~having five days of work left- ten days left living in japan

~if finding a job will be easy when we return- or if i'll have to work at yet another place i hate (which would be a repeat of what we are currently escaping)

~wearing the new skinny jeans i just bought from uniqlo (japan's answer to old navy & the gap)

~possibly buying cute flats to wear with them

~the fact that i just finished an amazing book and must attempt to find another which will compare in enjoyment

~all of the beautiful places we have seen while living here (see above pic)

~my fingers turning purple from the cold as i write my blogs into my favorite blue plastic notebook

~the season of scarves, leg warmers, knit hotpants (super popular here right now) and fun knitted hats with pom-poms on top as we are heading to hawaii

~changing my hairstyle (if you can call throwing it up in a messy ponytail a style) haha...

~all of the people i will miss from our time here in japan

~the crazy food items i will no longer be thrilled to find at the convenience stores

~the fact that i haven't seen the sun in way too many days.... hoping for a bright day today

what are you pondering today?

happy thoughts!!!

i'm grateful...

...that my husband can see past my crabby days, and love me in spite of them!
...for the sun shining today after a week of cloudy and rainy days.
...that those rainy days got me in the mood to make soup and bake! yum-o.
...that my friend is preggers, and things are looking good- best wishes, i love you!
...i made good, albeit strong, coffee this morning which gave me the strength to strap on my shoes and greet the world. hello world.
...we get to spend the weekend with people we adore. heart heart heart them.
...my hubby is as ambitious and carefree as he is, he is my opposite and keeps me ever grounded.
...that there is a strawberry forming on my grown-from-seed strawberry patch! thrilling.
...there are only 20 days until i don't have to teach anymore. good-bye japan. hello america.
...fall colors popping up everywhere!
...for fresh produce presents from my students~ the most beautiful eggplant around!
...more people are checking out my blog, i really appreciate all of you!

have a grateful sort of day!

ps i lovingly borrowed this idea (in the spirit of the old adage 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery') from jasmine at an experiment in poverty. i heart her blog~ check it out- you'll love that you did! satisfaction guaranteed.

lists, lists, and more lists

so i was surfin' the web, as i love to do... and came across a blog entitled: '100 blog topics i hope YOU write' and thought it was an interesting idea. this particular blog was a little too social-media-minded for me, so i did some more searching. sure enough, i found another list which was based on Chris Brogan's original article. i've challenged myself to write the blogs listed; there are 55 of them to be exact. i think the reason this list 'spoke' to me is because they are mostly topics i'd likely never write about on my own. so, i'm on my way to writing #1.... The Story of My Most Serious Injury... Join me, if you dare! *if you decide to join me, i'd really appreciate a link back to my page* stay tuned for the blog!!
