a serious matter.

got my ass on the treadmill this morning, and now after all is said and done, i feel much better... it's always easier to sit on the couch and watch food network when you have worked some of your fat for the day. ha.

so. back to the serious issue at hand. i really couldn't even keep count of how many times during my workout i thought, "what was i thinking?!" the culprit: my period. who feels good during these terrible days of the month in the first place? and then i think its a good idea to get back to working out in the middle of the mess. OMG. i have officially lost my mind. the rest of my body felt great- but the aching throbbing crampy feeling in my lower belly really put a damper on that high you get when you are exercising.

and let me say this in further disgust to whomever it is, likely a man, that designs pads: you suck. i really think that whoever the designer is needs to wear each one they design while working out and getting all fabulously sweaty, and subsequently chafed. thanks an f'in lot, buddy. no matter how thin, or utterly dri-weaved, or winged they make them, they are uncomfortable and let's face it, they always rub you the wrong way. ugh.

i'm in disgust with them. boo.

so there. my rant for the day. i'm feeling much better i got that all out. and i'm sure i just killed my measly readership to even further depths.

happy working out during your period!!

yesterday morning

*our loot*

we went to the local farmer's market here in honolulu. it is held in the parking lot of the community college at the base of diamond head. it's beautiful, and shady and green. there are amazing gardens planted by the students, complete with a billion different types of cactus. as you walk to the main entrance you are immediately greeted by the smell of fresh roasted coffee. there is handmade chocolate, orchids, bird of paradise flowers in buckets, pork sandwiches with yummy coleslaw, and a plethora of organic veggies. a bread shop which had every type of bread you could imagine: kalmata olive, cranberry walnut, herb, rolls, breadsticks, and scones. then there was the naked cow dairy. the name was so cute we couldn't pass up their tiny stall. it was packed with people vying for a front position where they could easily reach a tiny spoon to scoop up the delish-butters, herbed feta, or handmade cream cheese. wow. i could get really fat if i were friends with the girls who ran that place! my hubby was thrilled i brought him home a small container of the feta- that was, until i told him how much it cost. there's quite a premium for organic, fresh, good-for-you food.

as we were eating some of our loot from the market, a commercial cam on the tv telling everyone about how they could get a double burger from burger king for one dollar. it's any wonder our country is so fat and unhealthy. what a shame. it makes me sad to think that most people would opt for the dollar burger rather than the local food because it's sooooo much cheaper. i think things in america are really backwards- i don't think that crazy healthcare bill is taking this into account. how sad.

anywho, get your butts to your local market. you will love it. your heart will love it~ and you might find your own naked cows that make your head spin they taste so good! happy farmer's marketing!

*chinese beans~ not sure, but we're gonna try 'em*

*not sure what these flowers actually are, but they smell like paradise itself*

*so yummy*

*more beautiful tropical flowers*

*pork sliders on taro buns*

*fresh sun dried tomatoes*

*okra and the biggest papayas i've ever seen*

*beautiful!!!!!*

runnin' down a dream...

that never would come to me... thinking becomes difficult when the world clouds you with pop culture, reasons you should 'eat this cereal' and 'drink this milk', people telling you what's best for your life, and let's face it, life itself is pretty convoluted. there are moments of clarity as you wade through the forest of 'do this' and 'think that' ~ all of a sudden, you feel as if you fell down the rabbit hole into a wonderland; surrounded by colorful mushrooms, talking rabbits, cheshire cats, and the sound of the queen yelling, "off with their heads!" i think i may have stumbled upon my rabbit hole, and i'm heading down the swirling path into a wonderland of my own creation... i'm runnin' down a dream. im goin' wherever it leads.... and... this time it's going to come to me.

for as long as i can remember there's been the question hanging over my head, 'what do you want to be when you grow up?' honest answer was always: i don't know, i'll figure it out along the way. smartass answer: i'll never grow up, so i guess it doesn't matter! both of those were an easy way to change the subject and not worry about it. i started taking classes in hopes of eventually having a teaching degree. just finished the first two classes and six months of teaching ESL.... i already know that i'm not in any way interested in teaching young kids. not my cup of tea, so to speak. i have been thinking a lot about what i'm going to do now and i've decided to go with my strengths and see where they lead me. here is my criteria i will not yield to in my future career:

1. i will be in the business of helping people.
2. i will do something that keeps me active.
3. i want to be happy with my job, always.
4. i will not allow anyone to walk all over me.
5. i want to be happy with my job, always.

i think i have finally figured out what all of this thinking, and searching and finding has brought me to, other than just a brief glimpse of my wonderland! i want to focus on coaching, health, and fitness in my life. it makes me happy. i always feel good. i can motivate other people. i can be healthy. most importantly i can be happy doing it, and that's what i want for my life. so here's to you finding your rabbit hole and not being afraid of where that psychedelic swirl takes you... here goes nothin'! i'm runnin' down a dream....
